1 What StepJourney is — and what it is not

StepJourney is a fitness motivation app that tracks your daily steps using your device's built-in hardware pedometer and uses that data to simulate progress along virtual routes of your choice.

The app is designed to encourage physical activity through gamification and personal goal-setting. It is intended for general wellness purposes only.

StepJourney is not:

2 Important: not a medical device

StepJourney is not a medical device. The step counts, distances, calorie estimates, and activity data shown in the app are approximations produced by your device's hardware sensor. They are not clinically validated measurements and should not be used for medical purposes.

In particular:

By using StepJourney, you acknowledge that all activity data is for motivational and informational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice or clinical data.

3 How virtual journeys work

Virtual journeys are not real routes that you walk in one session. You do not physically travel the selected route, nor do you complete it in a single outing.

Here is how virtual journeys work:

Example: If a virtual journey is 800 km long and you walk an average of 8,000 steps per day (approximately 6 km), it would take you roughly 4–5 months of normal daily walking to complete it. You do not walk 800 km in one day — your everyday steps bring you closer to the finish line, little by little.

StepJourney does not plan physical hikes, travel itineraries, or real-world routes. It uses real geographic routes purely as a motivational framework for your everyday step counting.

4 License of use

Bythe Hiko Studios grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use StepJourney on your Android device for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

You may not:

5 StepJourney Premium

StepJourney offers an optional one-time purchase called StepJourney Premium. It unlocks additional features permanently with no subscription and no recurring charges.

Premium features include:

One payment, permanent access. You pay once and keep Premium access on the same Google Play account, even if you reinstall the app or change devices. To restore your purchase, tap Restore purchase in the Premium section of your Profile.

Payment is processed entirely by Google Play. Bythe Hiko Studios never receives, stores, or has access to your payment details (card numbers, billing address, or any other financial information).

Purchases are subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.

6 Refunds

Because payment for StepJourney Premium is processed by Google Play, all refund requests are handled by Google, not by Bythe Hiko Studios.

How refunds work on Google Play:

EEA / UK users: Under EU consumer law, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for digital content purchases. However, this right may not apply if you have already started using the digital content and explicitly waived this right. For more information, see Google Play refund policies for EEA countries.

Refund decisions are subject to Google Play's refund policies. Bythe Hiko Studios cannot override Google Play's refund decisions.

7 Intellectual property

StepJourney, including its name, logo, design, code, graphics, and all content, is the exclusive property of Bythe Hiko Studios and is protected by intellectual property laws.

Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in the app other than the limited licence described in section 4. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

Map data used in virtual journeys is provided by third-party mapping services (such as Google Maps). Their respective terms and licences apply.

8 Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Bythe Hiko Studios shall not be liable for:

The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted operation.

Important: If you experience chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or any other concerning symptom during physical activity, stop immediately and seek medical attention. Do not rely on this app to monitor your health condition.

9 Third-party services

StepJourney relies on the following external services to provide map, route, advertising and analytics functionality. These services are operated by third parties, are outside our control, and may be unavailable, modified, or discontinued at any time without notice.

Bythe Hiko Studios is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content provided by these services. Their respective terms of service and privacy policies apply. If any of these services are temporarily unavailable, related features (map display, route creation, place search) may not work until the service is restored.

10 Acceptable use

You agree to use StepJourney only for lawful personal purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

11 Changes to the app or these terms

Bythe Hiko Studios reserves the right to modify, update, or discontinue any feature of StepJourney at any time. We will endeavour to notify users of significant changes through the app or the Play Store listing.

We may also update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12 Governing law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Spain. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the use of StepJourney shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the law of your country of residence.

If you are an EEA consumer, you also have the right to submit a complaint to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body. You may use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
