Frequently asked questions

Is StepJourney free?

Yes. StepJourney is free to download and use. An optional Premium removes ads and unlocks extra features, but the core step counter and virtual journeys are free forever.

Does StepJourney need Google Fit or the internet?

No. StepJourney reads your phone's built-in step sensor and works fully offline. The internet is only needed for the optional Google Drive backup and to draw the map when you start a new journey.

Will it drain my battery?

No. StepJourney uses the low-power hardware step counter instead of GPS, so it keeps counting with the screen off while using very little battery.

How many steps a day should I aim for?

A popular goal is 10,000 steps, but research shows meaningful health benefits starting around 7,000–8,000 steps a day. You can set a custom daily goal in the app. Read our full guide on daily steps.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your steps, goals and journeys are stored on your device. StepJourney doesn't track your location in the background or sell your data. See our privacy policy.
